ORGANIC COTTON
First of all, we do not use genetically engineered seeds for growing our cotton. Our cotton grows up with no need for chemical treatment like pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. We also try to keep the water consumption as low as possible. The organic cotton for our production is hand picked.
The cotton farmers are treated and paid in a fair way. Child labour is not allowed.
We keep the transportation routes as short as possible in order to reduce environmental pollution.
HEMP
I know what´s running through your mind right now, but the natural fibre hemp provides a lot of different advantages.
The hemp fabric is skin compatible and suitable for allergic persons. Additional to that offers the hemp fabric an optimal climate. It keeps you cool on hot summer days and stores warmth on chilly days.
As a matter of course hemp is also sustainable. It is a heavy-duty plant, so there are no pesticides and herbicides necessary.
TENCEL
Tencel is extracted using a certain dissolving method from eukalyptus. This fibre optimally fits in our product range to allow the combination between streetwear and functional performance for sportive activities.
That´s why our Tencel-shirts come with street-designs, but have an effect similar to capable polyester-shirts, known from typical sportswear.
Tencel convinces of its breathable and steam-conductive structure in order to keep the body as dry as possible. Furthermore the fibres weight is much lower compared to cotton. The Tencel-fibres are dissolved using chemicals out of an eukalyptus plant.
Despite the chemical input the environment still benefits by minimizing the water requirements considerably (using a closed circulation system), which are multiply higher at cotton farming. In addition, nature doesn´t get in contact with the chemicals, as they are being degraded in organical filter plants after a long service life.
RECYCLED POLYESTER
We source high-performance textiles for the bleed Softshells from Sympatex. The Sympatex membrane features a poreless polyether ester structure, which lends it unique attributes:
- Optimal breathability
- 100% waterproof
- 100% windproof
- 100% biodegradable
For the outer and inner layers do apply 100% recycled materials. The membrane (high-performing protective foil as insulation layer) consists of fully recyclable polyether ester, which poses no health risks whatsoever and making it 100% eco- and skin-friendly.
The material is made of hydrogen, carbon and oxygen – components which are completely biodegradable and leave no toxic residue, meaning that Sympatex is every bit as recyclable as a PET bottle. Furthermore, the Sympatex textiles are exempt from the environmental pollutant PTFE (polytetrafluorethylene), which is supposed to cause cancer, but is still being used by numerous producers of functional textiles.
ANIMAL-FRIENDLY COMPONTENS (VEGAN PRODUCTION)
In no case we want to harm animals with our line of products! That´s why we strictly avoid the processing of animal components.
For example, instead of using the classic leather patch, we do apply recycled polyurethane. We also replace mother-of-pearl or horn with vegetable ivory and decline the application of downs for insulation issues categorically. Organic cultivation, which involves the plantation to be free off pesticides and herbicides, also contributes in avoiding alley animals getting in contact with hazardous chemicals.
We are very proud to have been awarded with the "PETA Progress Award" as animal-friendliest fashion line in 2011.
PRINTS AND DYEING
All our prints are screen-prints with water-based and PCB-free inks only.
All fabric-dyeing is strictly done accoring to the GOTS-guide lines without the use of heavy metal. Also the color black, which often is claimed to be in need of heavy metal.
Furthermore whitening is only processed oxygen-based, we do not need and use chlorine.
ACCESSORIES
We think that even all of our accessories should be sustainable.
For our zippers, we use only either chrome and nickel free metal or recycled polyester. Same thing for buttons, hooks and loops etc.
